Classic Tandoori Chicken (Oven Baked at Home)

Juicy chicken marinated in spiced yogurt and baked in the oven until perfectly tender and lightly charred — a classic Indian starter made easily at home.

Ingredients

  • Chicken pieces (bone-in)
  • thick curd/yogurt
  • ginger garlic paste
  • red chilli powder
  • turmeric powder
  • garam masala
  • coriander powder
  • pepper powder
  • lemon juice
  • Butter or regular oil
  • salt

Instructions

Clean and dry the chicken pieces.

Make deep cuts on the chicken for better marination.

For marination Red chilli powder, salt, turmeric, coriander powder, pepper powder, garam masala, ginger garlic paste,curd, lemon juice, butter.

Apply the marinade generously to the chicken, coating inside the cuts.

Cover and marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best flavor.

Preheat oven to 180°C.

Place chicken on a rack or lined baking tray.

Bake for 15 minutes, then flip the chicken pieces.

Bake again for 15 minutes on the other side until golden and fully cooked.

Add butter during the last few minutes for extra juiciness.

Remove from oven and rest for 2 minutes.

Serve hot with lemon wedges..
